The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is a statutory body under India's Ministry of Power that operates the Damodar Valley Project, the first multipurpose river valley project of independent India. Established in 1948 and modeled after the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) of the USA, DVC operates in the resource-rich Damodar River area of West Bengal and Jharkhand states.
