The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is an autonomous agency under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, established by an Act of Parliament in 1988. Operational since February 1995, it is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing over 50,000 km of India's national highway network. NHAI plays a key role in implementing major projects like the Golden Quadrilateral, North-South & East-West corridors, and port connectivity.
