When someone is in the final stage of getting the job, negotiation of the salary is a tough task to increase chances of securing a favorable compensation package with handsome perks.
Salary negotiation is a skill that can improve with one’s practice. Someone very cautious while negotiating because if something go wrong will lose the job opportunity. So approach with preparation, professionalism and a collaborative mindset to increase someone’s chance of achieving a satisfying result or outcome.
Here we are giving few tips for negotiating salary:
- Research the Market Average:
Research online and offline about the salary packages which are offered by the similar companies to their employees of the same skill set and knowledge and in the same geographical area.

Online many Job sites like Naukri.com, indeed, LinkedIn etc., posted the average salaries of the various companies for the multiple skill sets.
2. Know your value: One can evaluate ourself based on the following important factors –
- Skill Set
- Experience Level
- Education Level
- Career Level
- Technology update level
- Industry Licenses & Certifications
Without preparation and evaluation, one cannot negotiate in front of clever & experienced hiring manager, he
will overpower you.
3. Share Living Expenses: Discuss and share the expenses incurred on your living and tell them your expenses which
you are planning and those are not comes under the daily living expenses for example planning of wedding, birth of
a baby, purchase of car or house etc.

4. Flexible to Accept best: If the employer offered a best pay package with attractive perks but less than the demanded one,
one should be flexible to accept the same without any rigidness.
5. Be confident: Placing your demand in front of employer with confidence. The more confidence you convey, the more
confidence the employer will be in their consideration of your feedback.
6. Share what special you can do: Share your plan and ideas which will benefited to the organization in long run.
7. Be Positive: Always be positive in your attitude and express gratitude, as the employer has invested time in the process.
8.Start with Higher Range: Start demanding from higher side of the package and close the deal nearby it,
if one start negotiating from lower range chances that hiring manager cut it by 10-20%.
9.Rehearse with a true friend: Before going for face-to-face interview, do a rehearsal in front of mirror or with
a trustful friend.
10.Be willing to walk away: If in the case that employer have less budget and is offering very less package than
your demand, then you should not hesitate to walk away.
