The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) is a deemed-to-be university in Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh, that was founded in 1984 to provide technical education for the development of the North Eastern Region of India. It is an autonomous institute fully funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India since 1994 and is known for its unconventional academic programs, which include diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
