AIIMS Madurai is a public medical university established on July 3, 2020, under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, with the goal of improving healthcare and medical education in the region. It is currently operating from a temporary campus at the Ramanathapuram Government Medical College, with its own permanent campus in Thoppur being under construction and projected to be operational by early 2026
